China Deutsch-Asiatische Bank Hankow $50 1.3.1907 Pick S265s Specimen. Quite simply, an amazing note. While German influence was largely concentrated in the north around Shandong Province, it like other European banks of the era attempted to spread its economic influence across the country. However after the First World War, Germany was forced to give up much of its influence. The Deutsch-Asiatische Bank was one of the suffered from this, and through the years, gradually lost economic prowess in the Far East. Hence, their Banknotes featuring Germania were in circulation for only a few years before being redeemed. This design of 50 Dollars is the highest denomination issued of the Hankow Dollar series, and represented a substantial amount of purchasing power, hence the rarity of issued notes. This well preserved Specimen with roulette cancelled "DRUCKPROBE" in the top and bottom margins features otherwise full colors and stainless paper. A trophy note for any collection.
