Nero Claudius Drusus; Died 9 BC, Lugdunum, struck by his son Claudius, c. 41-47 AD, Denarius, 3.76g. BM-97, RIC-70 (R), Paris-3, C-2 (30 Fr.). Obv: NERO CLAVDIVS DRVSVS GERMANICVS IMP Head of Drusus l. wearing oak wreath. Rx: DE / GERM Triumphal arch surmounted by statue of Drusus charging r. on horseback between two trophies, each with a captive seated at its base. Rare: only twelve specimens listed by Von Kaenel, Münzprägung des Claudius, pp. 57-9. The wreath worn by Drusus, misidentified as a laurel wreath until recognized as oak by D.
