EASTERN EUROPE, Imitations of Roman Republican. Geto-Dacians. After 79 BC. AR Denarius (19mm, 2.54 g, 7h). Imitating obverse of C. Naevius Balbus, reverse of Lucius Appuleius Saturninus(?). Stylized head of Venus right; S • C behind / Figure in quadriga right; pseudo-legend around. Davis Class A, Group II, M141 (this coin). For prototype: cf. Crawford 382/1 (obv.) and 317/1 (rev.). Near VF, lightly toned.
