AMNG III 2, SNG ANS 406ff, Dewing 1604, Traité I 1740. Rare. Outside of numismatics, Neapolis is largely unknown, even its exact location is unknown. Apparently it was founded by colonists from Mende in the 6th Century BC. During the Graeco-Persian War, like many of its neighbors, it supplied troops and ships to Xerxes and afterwards became a member of the Delian League.
