Edward I (1279-1307), Pennies (8), London, Phase S3a (2), Class 10cfí3, 1.34g, obv. +edwarangldnshyb:, crown 3 with tall central lis, left spearhead leans right, broken e and h, rev. civi tas lon don, toned with an excellent portrait, a bold very fine, 1.41g, dark tone, good fine, Phase S3b (6), legend as before, new letters, round backed e and h with turned up tail, long narrow face with hollowed drapery and neck depression, 1.33g, slightly small, a bold fine, 1.40g, variety with ‘broken chin’, nearly very fine, 1.36g, mixed lettering on the reverse, good fine, 1.31g, reads +edwaran etc, with the first bust and old crown, irregular with a small chip,very fine, Variety with terminal colon in legend (2), 1.42g, struck on a small flan, fine, 1.42g, with mixed lettering on the reverse, the obverse double struck, nearly very fine (N.1042/1, N.1042/2; S.1412; Stewartby p.175, XS3a, XS3b, the first pl.6/126 this coin; the sixth, BNJ vol.31 p.83 and pl.5/10 this coin), a useful research group (8).
