Head of Helios facing slightly right / Rose with bud to right, I - Ω flanking stem, ΕΡΜΙΑΣ above. SNG Keckman (Finland) 793-795. Choice Extremely Fine; lightly toned. Ex Bowers and Merena (September 1985), lot 3508. R. H. J. Ashton in his 1988 article "A Series of Pseudo-Rhodian Drachms from Mainland Greece" (The Numismatic Chronicle, vol. 148, pp. 21-32) argues that this coinage was struck by Perseus to pay Cretan mercenaries serving in his army.
