EASTERN EUROPE, Imitations of Roman Republican. Geto-Dacians. After 90 BC. AR Serrate Denarius (19.5mm, 4.28 g, 5h). Uncertain prototype, possibly loosely based on C. Vibius Pansa. Stylized head of Apollo right / Stylized figure in quadriga right; pseudo-legend in exergue. Davis Class A, Group II, M25 (this coin). For possible prototype: cf. Crawford 342/5. VF, lightly toned, off center, double struck.

From the RBW Collection. Ex Philip Davis Collection (Gemini IX, 9 January 2012), lot 616, acquired online, 6 November 2004.

From Davis's website: "The strike makes interpreting the obverse virtually impossible. The Vibia prototype is only an educated guess, which doesn't explain the serration. "
