AUSTRIA. Socrates. 470/469-399 BC. Æ Medal (40mm, 17.48 g, 12h). School Prize. By Guillemard and Stuckhar. Manufactured late 18th-early 19th centuries. Bust of Socrates right / Angel seated left, directing young scholar holding book along stony path to Temple of Knowledge. See Rauch 101, lot 1923 (for issue in silver). EF, brown surfaces, spots of verdegris, scratch on obverse.
