Augsburg. Free City 2 Taler 1740-IT MS64 NGC, Augsburg mint, with titles of Karl VI, Triple Horseshoe mm, engraved by Jonas Pieter Thiébaud, KM146, Dav-1920. This piece is a model both for high mint production standards and the engraver's art. Despite a few tiny surface marks, the fields on the well-prepared flan are prooflike and the devices meticulously struck-up. Field reflectivity is tempered somewhat by lavender and gold tone, which accentuates the charming design, both that of the artfully depicted Imperial Eagle and the personifications of the River God Lech and River Goddesses Wertach and Singold. From the Cape Coral Collection of Multiple Talers
