Saxony. Johann Georg II 2 Taler 1661 MS64 NGC, Dresden mint, KM496, Dav-401 (LS). A beautifully struck example of this issue, with argent tone sheathing lustrous and nearly unmarked underlying surfaces. A couple of minuscule planchet flaws, as made, are noted on the reverse but have a negligible impact on the eye-appeal. This type was struck to commemorate the addition of the chapel to Schloss Moritzburg, designed by Wolf Kaspar von Klengel, who is also noteworthy for having built the first opera house in Dresden. This lot is accompanied by an older NGC photo-certificate bearing the same grade as the current jumbo holder.Ex. S.M. Damon CollectionFrom the Cape Coral Collection of Multiple Talers
