Saxony. Johann Georg III Taler 1691-IK MS61 NGC, Dresden mint, Johann Koch as mintmaster, KM617, Dav-7645. An attractive example of this issue marking Johann's death, evenly toned throughout with a handful of ancient scratches in the field in front of the bust. Although classified as an "double struck rotated - mint error" by NGC, and you can indeed see a ghost of the reverse inscription running perpendicular to itself, that particular label is perhaps a bit of a misnomer. Likely, there was a corrective strike applied due to either unevenness or general weakness in the first strike, which does not in any way affect the legibility of that inscription. From the Cape Coral Collection of Multiple Talers
