Basel. City 2 Taler ND (ca. 1670) MS62 NGC, Basel mint, KM71 (erroneously dated 1737 in SCWC), Dav-1741, Dav-587 (LS). An outstanding specimen of this broad issue, deeply toned over meticulously-engraved devices. The intricate cityscape, as ever with Basel city-view types, is dominated by the Rhine while the reverse showcases the city arms; a crosier for the city as the center of the bailiwick, surrounded by the arms of its eight constituent towns: Farnsburg, Homberg, Münchenstein, Pratteln, Riehen, Ramstein, Liestal, and Waldenburg. From the Cape Coral Collection of Multiple Talers
