Zurich. City Taler MDCLX (1660) MS63 NGC, KM88, Dav-4648, HMZ-21146l. Remarkable quality for this rare and desirable early Zurich taler, affectionately nicknamed "wasertaler" after Johann Heinrich Waser who was elected mayor of Zurich on June 28th, 1652. Lightly toned over both sides, with attractive silvery luster peering out from beneath. Surface contact also remains at a minimum for the grade with slight striking incompleteness, more often present than not, contributing to the grade. As the finest example certified by NGC, a certainty to be strongly pursued by the collector of historic, world-class crown-sized issues. From the Redwood Collection of Swiss Coins
