Philip V 1/2 Real 1733/2 MX-MF VF Details (Mount Removed) NGC, Mexico City mint, KM65. Sharply detailed with moderate wear and a solder spot at 12 o'clock, per the designation. The attribution of the 1733/2 overdate is plausible though not definitive: an example struck from this same obverse die in the D. Gray collection (Stack's Bowers 10/2014, lot 436) was attributed as the plain date 1733 variety, while another coin struck from a different obverse die and certified as 1733/2 prompted the cataloguer of that sale to note: "the validity of this [attribution] is open to interpretation, as the bottom of the second three is filled seemingly from a flaw in the die". Rare in any case and a well above average example of this variety despite the noted flaws. From the Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins, Part III

Estimate: 300-400 USD
