Philip V 2 Reales 1732-Mo Fine Details (Damaged) NGC, Mexico City mint, KM84 ("Rare"). Rather well detailed for the technical designation with clearly defined features, one attempted puncture (test mark?) and some edge damage near 3:30 o'clock on the obverse. Missing in the Norweb, Gerber and Patterson collections and very rare in any grade. In fact, and despite the noted defects, the present coin likely represents the finest extant of this iconic issue in private hands: the only noted public offering in the past 10 years was that of an aG and holed coin – Stack's Bowers & Ponterio 10/2014, lot 451, while the only confirmed finer coin is the ex. Romero de Terreros example impounded in the collection of the Banco de Mexico. As such, a most desirable item for the advanced collector of the Mexican milled Colonial series despite the noted shortcomings for condition. From the Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins, Part III
