ATTICA. Athens. Ca. 510-480 BC. AR drachm (17mm, 4.05 gm, 6h). Head of Athena right in archaic style with frontal eye, wearing Attic helmet ornamented with single vine scroll and large crest / Owl standing right, head facing; olive sprig to left, AΘE to right; all within incuse square. Seltman Group L. Svoronos plate 3, 48. HGC 4, 1623. Very rare, one of the finest examples extant of the earliest "owl" drachm type. Very lightly smoothed in reverse fields, otherwise exemplary. NGC AU 5/5 - 2/5, Fine Style, smoothing.
