Thibaw gold 5 Mu (1/2 Mohur) CS 1240 (1878) MS61 NGC, Mandalay mint, KM26, CBB-11.20, Fr-7. Struck during the reign of Thibaw from the Konbaung Dynasty -- who was also the final Burmese King before the British defeated Burma in the Third Anglo-Burmese War -- this exotic selection features the emblematic Chinese lion and denomination surrounded by a beautiful wreath motif. The vibrant, honeyed surfaces express a surprising amount of flash while subtle autumnal color lightly mottles the fields. A number of very insignificant ticks ultimately define the grade, but this selection is decidedly rare in all regards.Ex. Lawrence Adams Collection
