Edward VII gold Specimen Sovereign 1908-C SP64 NGC, Ottawa mint, Fr-1, KM14. Engraved by George William De Saulles. Obv. Bare head of Edward VII right. Rev. St. George slaying dragon. Well struck, with satiny surfaces and bold relief. A single mark in the right obverse field, by Edward's chin, defines the grade of this extremely rare issue. The first Canadian Sovereign issue, struck only in Specimen, in the tiny mintage of 636 pieces. It is thought that this issue was struck in limited Specimen edition as a ceremonial issue for the opening of the new Ottawa Mint.

Estimate: 8000-10000 USD
