Central American Republic gold 4 Escudos 1835 CR-F AU55 NGC, San Jose mint, KM16, Fr-2. Handsome for the designation with appealing old orange toning and good underlying luster. Present handling marks are limited and as expected for the assigned grade with two small pinscratches at 11 and 1 o'clock on the obverse noted for accuracy's sake. An elusive issue with a mintage of only 2,863 pieces, quite rare in this technical certification with only two finer coins currently listed in NGC's census and vastly desirable as such.
