Republic white-metal Proof Pattern 1/4 Peso 1850-JB PR65 Cameo NGC, London mint, KM-unl. Gem Mint State with fully reflective fields, virtually free of handling evidence, as suited for this lofty technical designation. The finest seen of this rare pattern issue by the cataloguer and immensely desirable as such. The choice (but lesser) example recently sold by us as part of the Pura Vida collection (graded PR63 NGC, Heritage Auctions 4/2016, lot 29723 for $6000) was noted by us as conditionally very rare and desirable since in "unusually high quality" and (devoid of) the "varying degrees of pitting or surface rust" usually encountered on this type. This incredibly choice specimen should attract similar bidding interest and likely surpass it.
