Cuba
Republic Proof gold Peso 1915 PR66 Cameo NGC, Philadelphia mint, Fr-7, KM16. Obv. Head of Jose Marti right, with date below. Rev. Arms of Cuba within open wreath, with value below. A Superb example, with boldly defined devices, nice cameo contrast, and a hint of Greenish-gold patina. No significant flaws are noted. Traditionally thought to be from a mintage of 140 pieces, but many believe 50 may be a more accurate number. An amazing example of this rarity which must rank among the finest known. The Eliasberg coin was graded PR65. Only two pieces have been certified finer by NGC (PR67), and we doubt either of these is noticeable nicer than this stunning piece.
Estimate: 5000-7000 USD
