Czechoslovakia
Republic gold 10 Dukatu 1938 UNC Details (Cleaning) PCGS, Kremnitz mint, KM14, Fr-5. Mintage: 192 (Czech records indicate 172 were minted for Czechoslovakia and 20 for the state of Slovakia). An extremely rare late-issue date of this beloved large gold type, and as a result of its tiny mintage, rarely seen on the market. To date, this is the only example of this issue that we have offered, with our only previous sale for a Czech ducat of this year being a 1 Ducat that was graded UNC Details - Surface Hairlines by NGC and brought $28,980 in our April 2011 CICF auction. Similarly, this piece has been lightly handled, but the effect on the eye-appeal is relatively minimal, as it takes close inspection to see the light hairlines and marks. Even with its imperfections, a coin with significance that is difficult to overestimate; a true trophy coin for the collector of 20th century gold rarities. From the Commander Collection
