Menelik II silver Specimen Pattern Birr EE 1892 (1899) SP66 PCGS, Paris mint, Gill-M4var (raised lettered edge instead of the plain edge stated for this type in the Gill book), KM-Pn5, variety with no Paris mint privy marks. Obv. Crowned bust of Menelik II right. Rev. Lion facing left, holding staff. A remarkable example of this rare Pattern issue. The strike is full, with mottled gray, blue, and silver-gray patina. The fields have a decided prooflike appearance and no significant flaws are noted. An extremely rare issue, with none certified finer by PCGS, or NGC.
