ECUADOR. 1/4 Real, 1842-MV S. Quito Mint. NGC VF Details--Environmental Damage.
KM-26. (Incorrect Krause number on label). Coin alignment. VERY RARE, estimated 6 to 7 known for the date. The decree to authorize minting of the 1/4 Reales was not issued until September of 1842, hence not many were made and only a handful have survived in any condition. Struck in 0.333 fine bilon, and with light corrosion resulting from this highly impure alloy. Missing from nearly all collections of Ecuadorian coinage. NGC VF Details--Environmental Damage.
