KM-748.7; Gad-453. First year of the laureate head coinage. A remarkable piece from one of the mints with a lower mintage for this year. With almost unbelievably minimal contact marks allowing the fields to radiate their strong luster. Some slide friction is present on the high points as attested to by slightly different hued toning from the surrounding areas. The periphery and central reverse who some toning while the fields and bust have a diaphanous silvery tone. Tied with one other example as the finest piece certified. PCGS MS-64 Secure Holder.
