S-1254; North-845. Two stars type. Moneyer Godwine. Crowned facing bust of William flanked by stars, with legend +PILELM REX A; Reverse: Cross botonnee over quadrilateral with incurved sides and center annulet, legend +GODPI ON LVND. From the time of the Norman Conquest. The only piece seen at PCGS. Essentially as stuck with a deep amalgam of dark color tone, nearly perfect centering and with bold legends and portrait. An outstanding museum quality example with virtually no peers at this grade level, and of significant historical importance. PCGS MS-61.
