GREAT BRITAIN. 1/2 Ryal, ND (1464-70). London Mint. Edward IV (1461-70). PCGS Genuine--Cleaning, Unc Details Secure Holder.
S-1960; Fr-134; N-1554. Light coinage. The "Law and Order" king, Edward IV was both an undefeated military commander who vanquished the House of Lancaster as well as an able statesman who was immensely popular with most of his subjects. The coinage seen here from his reign is a terrific example with full details, and with minimal cleaning that has not produced any hairlines; an important consideration when evaluating the overall condition of the piece. Very limited (if any) doubling, an all around high quality example with attractive luster and color. It is noteworthy that the coin does not have the "B" mintmark (Bristol) seen in the waves as on most available issues, instead having been struck at London. An intriguing coin that is sure to pique the interest of bidders as it heads to auction. PCGS Genuine--Cleaning, Unc Details Secure Holder.
From the Rye Collection.
Estimate: $3500.00- $4500.00
