GREAT BRITAIN. Pattern Guinea, 1761. George III (1760-1820). PCGS PROOF-63 Secure Holder.
WR-84(R4); Montagu-517; Murdoch-128; DM-97. Wilson & Rasmussen estimate 11 to 20 known. Laureate bust right, pointed truncation, three laurel leaves at top of wreath, five berries; Reverse: Crowned garnished shield. Plain edge. The design (Friedberg-352) was adopted for production coinage in 1761 for a single year, and is considered an elusive issue in its own right. The pattern offered here is a formidable example of this great rarity, with light clear tone and fresh mint bloom. An altogether magnificent example that is museum quality, and certain to add to depth to the collection it enters. For collectors of pattern British gold coinage, clearly a coin of great importance and worthy of consideration. PCGS PROOF-63 Secure Holder.
From the Rye Collection.
Estimate: $10000.00- $15000.00
