GREAT BRITAIN. British War Campaign Medals, ca. 1854-1937. EXTREMELY FINE.
14 pieces in lot. This is a nice group that includes some scarce issues including: (2) 1854 Crimea Medals, one uninscribed, and with 2 clasps, and one with 3 clasps that is engraved with the recipient's name on the edge (MYB-119); 1858 Indian Mutiny Medal with LUCKNOW clasp, name removed from edge (MYB-121); Afghanistan Medal awarded to a British Army gunner (MYB-128); 1861 Second China War Medal, Unnamed (MYB-122); 1874 Ashantee Medal issued to an Army private (MYB-126); 1882 Egypt Service Medal issued to a British soldier (MYB-131); an 1884 Khedive's Star, as well as an 1884-1186 dated version of the same medal (MYB-132ii and 132-iii); a 1914-20 British War Medal awarded to a Canadian private (MYB-168); and a 1919 Mercantile Marine War Medal awarded to a civilian. Also included in this lot are a 1937 Coronation Medal for Edward VIII who abdicated before being crowned, and a silver Italian Pantheon Medal for guards at the tomb of King Umberto, who died in 1900 (Barac-336). The retail value of this lot is about $1,600.00. Worthy of closer inspection by a collector of militaria. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. Average grade EXTREMELY FINE.
