ITALY. Venice. 10 Lire, 1797. PCGS AU-50.
KM-777; C-155a; Dav-1577. The only piece seen by PCGS. A single year issue struck by occupying French forces after they landed at Lido on April 25, 1797. The Doge (Lodovico Manin) surrendered on May 12 and went into exile shortly thereafter. A coin from early in Napoleon's conquest of Europe, and highly desirable on a number of different levels. Virtually all white, and with excellent luster and flash. Most of the wear has been sustained on Liberty's effigy, with the fields in particular showing very little evidence of circulation. Conservatively graded, and easily one of the finest surviving examples. PCGS AU-50.

Estimate: $2000.00- $2500.00
