PERU. 8 Reales, ND (ca. 1568-71), Assayer R. Philip II (1556-98). PCGS Genuine--Test Mark, EF Details Secure Holder.
Sellschopp-1; G/S-1; Medina-235; Cal-Type-138#94(RARISIMA). EXTREMELY RARE. Assayer Alonso de Rincon. For the denomination, the only crowned pillars over waves design to be struck. Only a handful of the type are known to exist, and are always hotly pursued when available for sale. Struck on a nearly round flan, slightly off center, with minor weakness through the peripheral legends. The boldly struck central devices more than compensate for the limited weakness seen elsewhere, with choice attractive original surfaces. Even light to moderate tone, and free from major abrasions or flan flaws; the piece remains remarkably well preserved for the assigned details grade. A single "X" test mark can be seen between the pillars, and is likely contemporary to the era the coin was produced, with no indication of patina variation in or around the mark. Of significant historical interest and a coin that is missing from nearly all collections, even the most advanced. PCGS Genuine--Test Mark, EF Details Secure Holder.

Estimate: $20000.00- $30000.00
