PERU. Crowns & Minors, ca. 19th-21st Century. FINE to CHOICE MINT STATE.
Approximately 72 pieces in lot. Comprehensive collection of Peruvian coinage, heavy in silver with 25 crown sized coins, and a fabulous run of 13 different gem brilliant uncirculated Half Dinero coins dated from 1896 to 1916 including a number of scarce overdates. Also includes an 8 Reales 1810-JP, followed by a concentration of Soles crowns dated 1864, 1865 (2), 1868, 1869, 1870-YJ, 1870-YB, 1872, 1873, 1874, 1880, 1884, 1885, 1888, 1889, 1890, 1891, 1894, 1916, then modern silver crowns dated 1971, 1974, 1975, 1979, 1992 and 2002 (Proof). Ten other smaller silver issues including commemoratives, with the balance in base metal with many better issues in uncirculated. Earlier issues average Extremely Fine with a few cleaned or with other minor problems, and with later issues mostly uncirculated. Overall a wholesome grouping. A terrific collection to be had for a single winning bid, and a lot sure to reward the discriminating numismatist who specializes in this South American coinage. Catalog of value exceeding $2,500.
