RUSSIA. 5 Ruble, 1755. Saint Petersburg Mint. Elizabeth (1741-61). NGC Unc Details--Surface Hairlines.
Fr-124; C-27.2; Bit-82(R2); Diakov-330(R3). No mint mark. RARE. Far less common as a denomination (regardless of date) than the coinage from Catherine II that followed her. In fact, all of the gold coinage from Elizabeth's reign is less available overall, and always hotly pursued on those infrequent occasions when a choice piece becomes available at auction. A fantastic example that is fully without wear, indeed UNCIRCULATED just as the label implies, and with just the most trivial evidence of mishandling in the fields. Boldly struck, with all of the resultant detail exquisitely rendered in the portrait and tiara, and with splashes of red toning adding character to the piece. The better without mint mark variety, and in an astonishing state of preservation, the piece leaves little room for improvement. Highly attractive. NGC Unc Details--Surface Hairlines.

Estimate: $20000.00- $25000.00
