Largely responsible for Russian foreign policy under Empress Elizaveta Petrovna, Alexey Bestuzhev-Ryumin's career began under Peter The Great and extended into the early years of Catherine The Great. The medal was struck to commemorate the appointment of Alexey Bestuzhev-Ryumin to the rank of field marshal after June 28, 1762 when Catherine II ascended the throne. The piece shows signs of wear but has never been mounted or cleaned. An attractive lightly toned example of this RARE and historically significant silver medal. NGC EF-40.
