RUSSIA. Ruble Novodel, 1762-CNB. Peter III (1762). NGC AU-55.
Bit-H43(R2); Diakov-N14(R2); Sev-1887. Well executed Novodel striking that exhibits a miniscule amount of wear, confined mostly to the hair locks of the portrait, and which retains the overall look of a special striking. A magnificent patina combining deep clay and periwinkle color that dances across the surfaces, and which convincingly eliminates any doubt about the original status of the coin. Several trivial planchet flaws are seen within the reverse cruciform that blend in nicely with the design. For those numismatists wishing to elevate their collection to a higher echelon of sophistication, one would be hard pressed to find a better opportunity than what is seen here. NGC AU-55.
