SERBIA. 10 Para, 1868. Vienna Mint. Mihailo Obrenovic (1839-68). NGC PROOF-64 BN.
KM-3. RARE. The finest of two pieces graded at NGC. Struck the year of his assassination. A popular leader in Serbia until the previous year (1867) when he announced his wishes to divorce his wife and marry Katarina Konstanticovic, his young mistress and daughter of his first cousin. Katarina was wounded in the assassination and her mother Princess Anka was killed along with the prince on June 10, 1868. A coin with much historical weight, and in magnificent condition. Brown with traces of red peering up along the edges of the devices. NGC PROOF-64 BN.
