SOUTH AFRICA. Eight Piece Proof Set, 1936. NGC PROOF-64 to PROOF-66.
KM-PS11; Hern-P12. RARE. 8 pieces in set. Includes: Farthing to 2 1/2 Shillings. Last year of George V's reign and coinage. Each denomination with a mintage of only 40 pieces, all of which were only issued in proof sets. All are housed within older NGC holders and grade as follows: Farthing, 1/2 Penny and Penny PROOF-65, 64, 65 BN respectively; 3 Pence PROOF-64; 6 Pence PROOF-66; Shilling PROOF-65; 2 Shilling PROOF-66; and 2 1/2 Shilling PROOF-65. Comparable to the John J. Pittman set we handled two years ago at the 2014 ANA which realized $17,625 including premiums, with the coins offered here including light attractive clear iridescent toning on several of the silver issues. NGC PROOF-64 to PROOF-66.
