SWEDEN. Great Northern War Silver Medal, 1700. Karl XII (1697-18). PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder.
49 mm. Hildebrand-63; Fieweger-973. Struck to commemorate Sweden's victories over the aligned adversaries of Denmark, Poland and Russia early in the Great Northern War. Unfortunately for Sweden, the Russians under Peter The Great were an unstoppable force, and Karl XII was forced into exile at the conclusion of the Battle of Poltova later in the war. With many surviving examples suffering from some form of impairment, the piece offered here is quite exceptional. Well struck with glossy earthen color tone and much underlying luster. A scarce and historically significant medal that is remarkably well preserved and sure to draw intense interest at auction. PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder.
Estimate: $700.00- $1000.00
