MIXED LOTS. Mixed Medals, Tokens & Exonumia, ca. 18th-20th Century. FINE to UNCIRCULATED.
49 pieces in lot. Rich and diverse lot of primarily European exonumia, mostly nineteenth and twentieth century, but with some earlier dated items present as well. Materials run the gamut from porcelain to silver, sizes from 16 mm to 100 mm, and conditions from FINE to UNCIRCULATED. Most of the items share the theme of clasped hands or handshakes. A quick scan reveals medals picturing Napoleon, Hitler and Louis XIIII. A beautiful silver medal noting the first flight to America by the Graf Zeppelin in 1928 stands out, as does a huge, old 70 mm recast of a sixteenth century medal of Pope Sixtus IIII and two later recasts of medals by Karl Goetz. Perhaps the most intriguing piece in the lot is a 20 mm round silver coin box, 12 mm thick, containing thirteen 16 mm uniface tokens with clasped hands, a flaming heart, and the inscription LA FOY NOVS VNNIS. A version of this design and inscription is also hand engraved into the removable lid of the box. A very nice lot that is sure to please its new owner and is fully worthy of close inspection. Retail value of about $3,500. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. FINE to UNCIRCULATED.

Estimate: $1800.00- $2200.00
