57.57 x 42.57 mm; 56.13 gms. By F. Vernon. Bust of Marcel Renault in profile right; Reverse: Scene of Marcel Renault at the finish line of the Paris to Vienna Grand Prix in 1902 which he won, inscription and olive branch below. Renault was a race car driver and developer who along with his brothers founded the Renault Automaker Company in 1899. In 1903 Marcel was injured in an accident during the Paris to Madrid race and died two days later. An exceptionally choice example which has most likely spent most of its existence in the fitted silk lined blue leather case which is also included. The obverse of the piece is deeply toned while the reverse is more bright and lustrous with only a bit of toning around the edges. Free of any marks of handling and the edges are crisp and without and bumps or knocks. CHOICE UNCIRCULATED.
