GERMANY. Munster. Peace of Westphalia Silver Medal, 1648. Ferdinand Herzog von Bayern (1612-50). PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder.
50.06 mm. KM-49. By E. Ketteler. Struck in the weight of 1 1/4 Talers. City view of Munster with two angels flying above holding an olive branch, laurel and palm frond. One angel blows a trumpet heralding the new peace accord signed at Osnabruck and Munster; Reverse: Hands emerging from clouds and clasping at center, over a sprig of olive and two cornucopia. Radiant sun above and military arms below. Minor strike doubling but with all of the devices clearly defined. Pleasing even old cabinet toning throughout with some winking remnants of luster found in the deep recesses of the design. Deep azure and maroon tone clings to the edges of the reverse. Some minor signs of handling as expected for a piece of this advanced age, nonetheless a very handsome and historical medal. PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder.

Estimate: $600.00- $800.00
