Zepernik-247. By J. C. Busch and J. L. Oexlein. Dated 1761 in Roman numerals. Saint Stephan seated facing on ornate sella, wearing episcopal regalia, with coat-of-arms in cartouche below. MDCCLXI in exergue; Reverse: Aerial city view of Passau, with the rivers INN FLUS (Inn River), DONAU (Danube), and ILZ (Ilz) marked, PATAVIA below exergual line, and fifteen crowned coats of arms around, with star between upper two shields. Medium evenly distributed tone with rose and blue highlights throughout. An exceptionally high grade example of a medal that typically has significant evidence of handling. The piece offered here is exceptionally nice. NGC MS-62.
