ITALY. Sicily. 4 Tari, 1648. Philip IV (1621-65). NGC AU-55.
KM-21; SP-22. With little interest in the affairs of state, Phillip IV was a dedicated patron of the arts, compiling a collection that included many masterpieces by Rubens and Cano. The basis of today's collection at the Prado Museum is a legacy of his efforts. The coin offered here exhibits a marvelously clear portrait fully worthy of the lofty assigned grade. Any weakness is more the result of eroded dies than poor striking. A few minor flan imperfections, but overall a wonderful example of the issue with bright surfaces and great centering with full legends on both sides. NGC AU-55.

Estimate: $200.00- $300.00
