MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1750-MF. Ferdinand VI (1746-59). NGC AU-58.
KM-104.1; FC-23; El-30; Gil-M-8-23. Booming bright white luster with just a hint of wear. Struck from an unusual die mating, with the obverse suggesting the die was close to failure, and with the reverse showing a very sharp and crisp strike that was clearly from a fresh die. The result is die cracking and bulging through the obverse fields, while the reverse sports nearly prooflike fields. An interesting die state variety that is sure to add a little spice to a collection of related material. NGC AU-58.
