Japanese soldier in combat gear facing away at center gazing at the island of Corregidor in distance with commemorative legend above; Reverse: Two palm tress with fronds at top, four stars at center and filling the fields is a poem which Basso credits General Homma with writing. Plain edge with a spot of solder at twelve o'clock where a loop was at one time attached and has since been removed or broken off. A few contact marks in fields. Scarce and highly sought after, and a presentable example of the issue. Rough edges, VERY FINE.
