RUSSIA. Accession to the Throne of Alexander I Silver Medal, 1801. EXTREMELY FINE.
42.1 mm; 24.6 gms. Diakov-262.1. Abramson's bust of Alexander in military uniform, right, his name and titles around; Reverse: Ceres and Mercury standing and clasping hands over an altar emblazoned with the Russian Imperial Eagle. FELICITATI / PERPETVAE (Perpetual Prosperity) to left and right. St. Petersburg Mercantile Community and date in exergue. Some very fine scratches evident in fields and a bit of tooling can be noted centered around the exposed genitalia of Mercury which has virtually obliterated. Apparently once owned by someone more concerned with propriety than posterity. This "modification" was done quite sometime ago as the vibrant surface toning shows electric cobalt blue, rich lilac and golden honey hues appears within the affected areas as well. EXTREMELY FINE.

Estimate: $200.00- $300.00
