CAMBODIA. 25 Centimes Struck in Gold, 1860. NGC MS-67.
Bruce-Pn6; Lec-36. A RARE off metal striking minted at Phnom Penh circa 1899 from original dies used for the silver patterns in 1860, attested to by the observable die rust and deterioration. Aside from being the finest certified example it is quite lovely with subdued but full luster throughout. As is normally found with these restrike issues the reverse exhibits more deterioration but is nevertheless fully struck, the obverse shows only mild die pitting and neither side shows any signs of wear or handling. Included with the coin is correspondence between the original collector Dr. Peter L. Schwartz of Clayton, Victoria and the late King Norodom Sihanouk of Cambodia from 1968, which includes the king's signature and is an interesting addition to this already highly desirable piece. NGC MS-67.
Estimate: $5000.00- $7000.00
