CHINA. 1500 Yuan, 1989. PCGS PROOF-68 DEEP CAMEO secure holder.
Fr-25; KM-259. Struck for the 40th Anniversary of the People's Republic of China. A VERY RARE piece from a mintage of only 100 pieces struck, this being stamped with serial number #057. Incredibly well struck for being such a large format. Mao Zedong and all of the figures present are well rendered and detailed with all of the frosted devices having no breaks or flecks. The deep pool mirrored fields are undisturbed and free of any signs of contact. A few small specks of copper spotting can be found when searched for and are seemingly the only reason a few points were withheld from the grade. The finest specimen graded by PCGS and tied with three others in this grade at NGC with eight finer which this example could likely compete with. The original wood display case is included and is in good order with metal clasped and hinges fully intact. A difficult to obtain modern commemorative which should garner premium bidding.
