CHINA. 1500 Yuan, 1993. Peacock Series. PCGS PROOF-69 DEEP CAMEO Secure Holder.
Fr-63; KM-601. EXTREMELY RARE massive 20 oz. gold coin from a tiny mintage of a mere 66 pieces this being stamped with serial #029. The peacocks are quite well rendered in this large size format with individual feathers at the end of the plumage, petals on flowers and even individual stones in the courtyard pavement of the reverse shown in detail and could be counted if one wished. All of the devices are wholly frosted. A few small light scattered copper spots are present, mostly on the reverse, and the rim shows some toning. A very difficult modern rarity to find offered with any regularity. The only example certified by PCGS and tied with two others in this grade at NGC. PCGS PROOF-69 DEEP CAMEO Secure Holder.
