CHINA. Order of the Double Dragon Type 2, Second Class, Grade III Badge & Breast Star, ND (ca. 1900-1912).

The Star is 81 mm point to point, and is composed of an 8 pointed multi-rayed gilt silver star surmounted by a disc embellished with silver dragons and light blue enamel. At the center is a carved coral gem with an additional smaller carved coral near the top of the central disc. The Sash Badge is 50 x 86 mm, including hanger. The suspended badge is a five-pointed silver star with blunt, widening points and a blue enamel decoration between each point. Central medallion with two dragons and an engraved coral stone at the center. A second small coral is missing from its blue enameled setting. The reverse is without inscription. An elongated silver and enamel hanger attaches the medallion to the silk maroon sash which is 90 mm wide x approximately 200 mm long - including the frayed (as made) bottom tassels.
